En el puerto de Pajares

Espectacular ruta diseñada para Una a Una por Mariví en las inmediaciones de la estación de esquí de Valgrande-Pajares.

A las 10 de la mañana nos pusimos en marcha desde el Parador con un cielo despejado y la temperatura en aumento (el mar de nubes y la humedad habían quedado atrás a medida que ascendíamos el Pajares en nuestros coches).

Nada más arrancar nos esperaban las salvajes rampas de la subida a Cuitu Negro. Pendientes del 20 al 25% se alternan durante más de 5 kilómetros con zonas de «descanso» que bajan al 12 o 15%.

Una subida así, y más de salida, exige cabeza para dosificar esfuerzos y acertar con un ritmo sostenible y cabal. Los esfuerzos sobre una BTT casi siempre merecen la pena; hoy en forma de magníficas panorámicas a Las Ubiñas y a Las Tres Marías.

Un respiro para convertir en foto nuestro triunfo en Cuitu Negro y emprendemos un descenso con tramos técnicos en un hermosísimo bosque de alta montaña que nos lleva al valle por el que corre un juvenil Bernesga, el río que pasa por la capital leonesa.

Piedra aquí, sendero allá, llegamos a Viadangos de Arbás, donde el perfil de ruta vuelve a ponerse serio. Y de nuevo 13 ruter@s impulsamos nuestras máquinas ladera arriba hasta ganar las praderías del collado de La Tercia.

Una nueva bajada por una pista pedregosa y entre hayas de colorido otoñal acaba devolviéndonos, tras alguna rampa traidora de último momento, a nuestro punto de partida bajo el cartelón verde que anuncia el comienzo de Asturias.
