Hoy Una a Una ha realizado una costera uniendo las ciudades de Gijón y Avilés y disfrutando de un repertorio de paisajes cantábricos memorables.
Ruta lineal: Gijón – Candás – Cabo Peñas – Podes – Avilés (12/4/2015)
Longitud: 57 km / Tiempo: 6:30 h (con paradas) / Desnivel positivo acumulado: 1400 m
Ruter@s: Manuela, Natalia, Sandri, Jenny, Paz, Marta, Juan y Juaco.
A las 9:30 de la mañana la playa de San Lorenzo nos ve partir con la amenaza de un incierto pronóstico meteorológico. Seguimos la rueda de Manuela en dirección Oeste y pronto dejamos a tras El Musel y el Cabo Torres dirigiéndonos a Xivares. Predominan las sendas estrechas con algún tramo de pista de grava sin demasiados escollos técnicos. Un continuo sube-baja nos pone calor en las piernas desde el primer minuto. Todas las rampas que encontraremos hoy serán cortas pero muchas de ellas tendrán pendientes fuertes. Llegamos a Perlora y tras superar la playa de La Palmera caemos sobre Candás
Pasada la playa de San Pedro nos enfrentamos a una rampa notable que nos aúpa a la Punta Taluxa y poco después a Antromero. Las continuas vistas a un Cantábrico del que apenas nos separamos compensan la dureza del camino. Tras más de 15 km en ruta se abre ya ante nosotras la extensa bahía de Luanco anunciada por una sucesión de calas rocosas donde un buscador avezado podría encontrar innumerables fósiles de bivalvos, crinoideos o trilobites. Dejamos atrás la villa de los “fatos” (que así se denomina a los luanquinos, “nenos” los candasinos) camino de las puntas de La Vaca y El Aguión.
Alcanzamos la rasa de Bañugues y nos preparamos para una de las subidas más exigentes del día que deba dejarnos en el Cabo de la Narvata y luego en la ensenada de Llumeres. Nos asomamos a la playa de Arnelles y a partir de ella rodamos por terreno cómodo. Pasando por Viodo giramos al Norte y nos acercamos al faro del Cabo Peñas donde aparcamos las bicis y nos regalamos un bien ganado descanso para estirar las piernas y, sobre todo, las mandíbulas. Gozando del espectacular paisaje de Peñas, entre fotos y bocadillos, nos entretenemos casi una hora antes de afrontar la última parte de la ruta.
De nuevo en marcha, ahora con rumbo Sur, pasamos por Ferrero y emprendemos una fuerte bajada hasta Verdicio que no presagia sino una nueva subida que nos lleva a La Furlada. Rodando a centímetros del mismo acantilado pasamos por el Fondal del Cornorio que nos abre paso a la playa de Xagó. Una fuerte bajada nos deja en las dunas del arenal y por asfalto ascendemos hasta Punta Cercada. Una senda colgada sobre el mar nos deja el Cueva Caballos desde donde bajamos a Nieva y Zeluán. Siguiendo el curso de la ría alcanzamos al fin Avilés con más de 6 horas de ciclismo y naturaleza en nuestro haber. Gran ruta, gran día en Una a Una.
